Do
You Believe?
"As Jesus was moving on he was followed by two blind men
crying out and
saying: Have mercy on us, Son of David!
Jesus entered the house and the blind
men approached Jesus. He said to them:
DO YOU BELIEVE THAT I CAN DO THIS FOR YOU?
They said to him: Yes, Lord.
Then he touched their eyes, saying:
According to your faith let it be done to
you. And their eyes were opened.
And Jesus warned them: See that you
let no one know. But, they told everyone
throughout the land about Jesus and how they were healed."
Matthew 9: 27-31
Now, imagine that you, too, are walking on the road with Jesus
and the two
blind men. You know that the blind men have longed to be healed,
to see, for a
long time. They have heard others come away from the presence
of Jesus shouting
with joy that their bodies were healed. Oh, how the blind men
want to be
healed. On several occasions the men have told their friends that
they were going
to ask Jesus to heal them, to have mercy on them.
Today, they ask Jesus for healing
and you are surprised that Jesus asks them,
"Do you believe I can do this for you?" What do these
words mean? What is the
connection between the faith of the blind men and healing? Is
there a
connection between your faith and how Jesus might heal you? You
ask Jesus to explain
this to you. Then, Jesus looks at you with an everlasting love
and asks, "Do
you believe I can do this for the blind men? Do you believe that
I can heal the
areas of blindness in your life?"
How will you respond to Jesus?
