PRAY AS YOU WALK ANYWHERE:
Prayer
Walking is rooted in Christianity in Western history and evidence
of Prayer Walking be found in the life of the Desert Fathers. These
Desert Fathers were holy men who lived centuries ago and they left
their busy lives in cities to live in the desert. They lived simply
with sand under their feet and the heavens above them. While their
outer life was shed of so many daily responsiblities, their inner
life became free to relate to the Lord and develop their faith in
deep ways that could not have been possible without the silence
and quiet in the desert. Men and women continue with this practice
of contemplative prayer today. We may not be able to retreat to
live in a desert, but we can practice God's presence as we walk
and pray. All people are on a spiritual path and Prayer Walking
is one way to become closer to the Lord in our daily lives.
