TAKE A COFFEE BREAK WITH GOD

Dr. Bette Shellhorn

During each day we may find that there are times when we feel tired or full of stress. Whether we work at home or in an office our bodies are designed to take times of rest and refreshment. In our American culture we take "coffee breaks" from our work and during this breaks we do something different from the regular work we do all day. This coffee break can be only a minute or an hour or sometimes we may be blessed to take a day off to find refreshment. Give yourself a blessing each day and take a coffee break with God. You will find that your time with God will be blessed in ways that you cannot imagine. Take the time to read from the Bible or some other inspirational material and then spend the time with God, just letting the Lord love you. There are an endless number of ways that you can spend this time and following are some ideas to spur you on to take this time with Jesus Christ.

COFFEE BREAK IDEAS

1. Go to a quiet place, close your eyes and remember the many blessings you have in your life. Thank and praise the Lord for each and every blessing.
2. Share time with a friend and talk and pray together.
3. Sit with the Lord and listen to what God says to you.
4. Pray for others in your life - family, friends, neighbors, co-workers.
5. Read a passage or verse from the Bible and reflect on the verses. You may find one or two words or a phrase that stands out to you. Reflect on these words and linger over them.

BIBLE VERSES TO PONDER

You may decide to focus on the Word of God and reflect on one Bible verse each day or reflect on one verse each day in a week. Read the verse slowly, sit still with your feet on the floor and arms at rest. Let the words fill your heart and ponder the words that stand out to you. Choose one of the 31 verses to speak to your heart. There is a verse for each day of the month.
